Jenny Overton has written a book on the Tasmanian Star Theatre Circuit. Star Theatres ran seventeen venues across the north and west of Tasmania from the 30’s to the early 70’s. They constructed three fabulous cinemas in Invermay, Burnie and Devonport, all designed by Greg Crick, the Tasmanian born, Sydney cinema architect. All three buildings are still standing. This book tells the history and the stories of the men and women who pioneered and worked in the industry, and the social history that came along with it.
