The Medich Brothers were quick to adopt CinemaScope, and screened “The Robe” just a few weeks after it had been shown at Hoyts Crescent Fairfield. Opening night – Saturday 13th November 1954 - was attended by several dignitaries, including the recently elected Member for Werriwa E. G. Whitlam (later to become Australian Prime Minister).
