Located in Swaffham, Norfolk. The Electric Picturedrome was opened in 1919 by H. Graythorne Brearley. It had a 24ft wide proscenium. It was equipped with a British Talking Pictures(BTP) sound system and screened its first ‘talking picture’, the German film “Atlantic” based on the Titanic tragedy, in 1930. In 1934 it was operated by H. Graythorne Brearley & W.A. Brearley.

By 1937 it had been taken over by the Bostock Cinema Circuit and was re-named Regal Cinema.

The Regal Cinema was closed in 1964. It was acquired by Vasmsers, a manufacturer of baker’s requirements, and converted into a factory. In due course, the company moved out and, in April 1992, submitted plans to demolish the building and replace it with housing. These plans were promptly approved. In a nice touch, the cul-de-sac created for the housing is called Regal Close. It is accessed from Northwell Pool Road (just off Station Street).
