Chief Drive-In

Located one mile west of town on the south side of US Highway 62. The Chief Drive-In was first listed in the 1956 edition of Film Daily Yearbook, although it could have opened earlier. It was operated by Simpson Nelson & Ray Leathers. It was still listed in 1957 and possibly closed in the late-1950’s.

The screen stood for a few years until it was town down. The concession/projection building was made into someone’s home, but it has since been abandoned and grown up with weeds and trees around it.

A 1966 aerial photo shows the outline of the drive-in surrounding a home.

Here is an overhead view of the property today. https://tinyurl.com/y9qe8gbv
