P.A. Bienvenu opened the Bienvenu Theatre on December 1, 1911. The Bienvenu Theatre was equipped for sound on May 25, 1930 showing Ruth Chatterton in “The Laughing Lady”. In 1934, the theatre was remodeled with a fire wall, air cooling, and improved raked flooring. The theatre closed June 19, 1947. It was torn down to make way for the Teche Theatre likely leaving at least two walls of the original structure.
