Marcus Addison Cinema

This theater opened November 15, 1996. All of its screens have stadium seating and love seats in certain areas. In 1999, an IMAX theater was added, which was removed in 2004 and converted into the theater’s 21st auditorium, albeit with a much larger screen than the other 20 screens.

The Marcus Cinema Addison is doing some renovation where the box-office and the concession stands are. Where the IMAX theater was orginallyi it is now theater #21. Theater #21 is has a hugh screen carved out from the original IMAX screen.

There is now a self-serve soda fountain instead of venders serving it. This lets you get free refills on all pops, but there is no water of sugarless drinks. All the time signs about the theatres entrances are now digital. Pizza and other items have been added to the menu and the center counter is open, closing the satellites. Theatre 21 is fully running and has the most comfortable seats out of the entire building. Where the side counters use to be (satellites), tables and chairs are going to be put in so that customers can sit and eat, but it is still a project with no major steps taken towards it, yet. There is new carpets, new wallpaper, and new door frames around most of the theatres.

Does anybody know about the IMAX theater that was at Marcus? They don’t seem to be showing anymore IMAX features and nobody I asked at the theater seems to know about any future plans.

I don’t know whom you asked but the news is the IMAX is no longer in existence for it is not theatre 21. In this auditorium, there is an Ultra Screen which is much larger and the entire area is just roomer…minus the leg and walking room in the rows. Reading the above comments explains this concept also. The IMAX will not be coming back and there is also some talk of renumbering the auditoriums so that there will be less confusion of where 21 is since it is currently situated between auditorium 14 and 15 number wise.

Before the theater even opened, Marcus had planned to add 4 more screens.
