The Bijou Theatre opened May 15, 1909 in a converted retail space at 144 Main Street, with photoplays and illustrated songs. It was so successful that it moved next door into 150 Main Street when it opened on June 21, 1913 with 350 seats. The original location was converted back to a retail operation. The larger Bijou Theatre was closed on January 22, 1921.
