Opening on October 14, 2016 with five screens and 600 seats, Lumière Cinema shows films in their original language usually with Dutch and English subtitles. Lumière Cinema noted their old cinema at Bogaardenstraat 40b closed on September 17.

Predominately an art house, during January 2019 they presented a series of David Lynch films beginning with “David Lynch: The Art Life". The series included “Eraserhead” from 1977, to a new 2017 edition of “Twin Peaks”, and many more in between.

Co-designed by JHK Architecten and Verlaan & Bouwstra Architecten, the Lumière was built inside the 1910 Sphinx ceramic factory.

Located on the second floor is a 150-seat restaurant with a view of the harbor.
