Picture House

Located in Dalmellington, Ayrshire on a lane, just off the main Ayr Road. The Picture House was opened prior to 1927 and was operated by W.G. Knotts & E.R. Varley. It was a very basic cinema, with long wooden benches as seats. It had a 16ft wide proscenium and from around 1930 was equipped with a British Acoustic(BA) sound system. It closed around 1937.

The building was converted into a motor repair shop which operated for many years. Part of the side wall was removed and the old painted screen could still be seen. It was later demolished and housing was built on the site.
