Picture House

In Lurgan, County Armagh, the Picture House is listed in the 1931 edition of Kine Year Book as being operated by Mr. J. Foster. By the 1940 edition is was listed as Foster’s Picture House, but had reverted back to Picture House by 1953. At that time the proprietor was Ernest Foster, perhaps John’s son. The seating capacity had been increased to 700 from the original 500 given in 1940. Ernest Foster was still operating the Picture House in 1966. It had closed by 1980.
