Colosseum Theater

Located in the outer district of Begerdorf to the east of the city. The Colosseum Theater was built in 1842 in a Neo-Clssical style. In 1953 the Colosseum Theater was transformed into the Kurbel Bergerdorf cinema by architects Koyen Georg after the plans of Chateauneuf. The theatre was operated by Muller KG A & CH. In 1956 CinemaScope was installed. The projectors were by Bauer and the 4-channel stereophoninc sound was by Klangfilm. The seats were by Schroder & Henzelmann. The theatre contained a stage and was used by the very famous Ohnsorg Theater for live performances once a month.

The Kurbel Bergedorf was closed in 1969 and was later demolished.
