Roxy Barmek

Located in the district of Barmbek-Nord to the northeast of the city. The Roxy Barmbek opened in 1954. It was part of the Roxy cinema chain operated by leltheda Iderhoff which also contained the Stern Lichtspiele in St. Pauli, Roxy Eppendorf, Roxy Eimbuttel & Roxy Hamm (which all have their own page on Cinema Treasures). The architects were Meldner & Idler. In 1956 it was equipped with CinemaScope and the projectors were by Bauer B&A with a Klangfilm sound sysyem. The Roxy Barmbek was modernised in 1968 and was closed in 1973. It is now an Aldi supermarket.
