Filmpalast #1

Located in the Alona-Altstadt district in Altona in the west side of the city. The Holsten Theater Altona was opened in 1912 and operated by Hugo Lerche. The architects were Reimers & Spiecker. Later the cinema was operated by Karl Pappe, Wittenberg, Meyen, Pemoeller, August Merten, Inge Putaier & Johannes Elbers. In 1932 a Tobis sound system was installed. Following a fire, the theatre was modernized in 1934 and was re-named Filmpalast. In 1943 it was destroyed by Allied bombs during World War II.

In 1945 a Filmpalast #2 was temporary housed in a school at Sievekingsallee 69 and a new Filmpalast #3 was built and opened in 1955 at Marienthaler Strasse 143-145.
