Kino Palast Altona

Located in the Altona district of Altona Alstadt in the west of the city. The Altonaer Lichtspiele was located at Buerger Strasse 68-70 and opened in 1926. The theater was operated by Gabriele Schmidt. In 1930 the cinema was operated by Vereinigte Lichtspiele GmbH. In 1931 Hans Perner took over. In 1932 a sound system was installed and the cinema was operated by Emil Link In 1933 it was re-named Buerger Lichtspiele and was operated by Albert Kahn. In 1934 the cinema was re-named Kino Palast Altona and was listed with 600-seats and operated by O. Rehr. In 1938 O. Rehr & Hugo Timmerman operated the cinema. The Kino Palast was closed in 1941, possiblt due to conditions during World War II.

In 1949 Hugo Timmerman re-opened the cinema with 540 seats. In 1953 the Buerger Strasse was re-named Thedestrasse. CinemaScope was installed in 1956 and the projectors were by Ernemann E IX.

In 1961 the Kino Palast Alton was demolished and was replaced by a new cinema named Kino Neu Altonta and was operated by Hugo Timmerman (it has its own page on Cinema Treasures).
