Built on the site of the Regent Cinema, the Hollywood was opened on 13th February 1939 with Nelson Eddy & Eleanor Powell in in “Rosalie”. It had a second entrance on 3 Rue de Jeune Anacharsis. Seating was provided for 1,200 in orchestra & balcony levels.

On 21st November 1973 the Hollywood was closed to be converted into a 4-screen cinema, with the total seating capacity reduced to 640. It was closed at the end of 1987 and was converted into retail use. By August 2019 it had been in use as H&B Style, but had closed. By May 2023 it was in use as a grocery store.
