Created from a converted ballroom inside the Dupont Plaza Hotel, this cinema opened on June 6, 1966 by 16mm film collector and philanthropist Samuel Kipnis as a fund raiser for Miami Tent Variety Childrens Hospital. The opening feature was “DIMKA” and required a $2 minimum donation for admission. The cinema operated from 1966 to 1970 running mainly foreign language films and American classics.
