Orient Theatre

The Exhibit Theatre was listed in the 1914-1915 edition of American Motion Picture Ditectory. 1926 Sanborn shows movies being shown in a large single story building. This may have been a remodel of the 1st Methodist Episcopalian church, which dated to sometime before 1901. The church was roughly the same size, and the height of both buildings is identical, save the spire, which is missing from the ‘new’ structure. By 1931 it had been renamed Orient Theatre.

This theatre remains in operation on the 1952 map, by which time a small rectangular marquee has been added to the front. The Orient Theatre was still open in 1957. At some point perhaps in the 1960’s, an unattractive bank building replaced the theater.
