City Filmtheater

Located in the Stadmitte district of the city centre. The City Filmtheater was opened around 1957/1958 and was operated by the Goldschmidt chain. It was designed by architect Hanns Ruttgers. The colours of the auditorium were grey & purple. Universal projectors enabled 35mm & 70mm films to be screened and a 6-channel stereophonic sound system was installed.

Later the cinema was operated by Adolf Schoof and it 1982 it was taken over by the Ufa chain. The City Filmtheater was closed in 1983.
