The space program put Titusville on the map and the population grew from fewer than 6,500 residents in 1960 to over 30,000 by 1970. The Miracle City Mall had opened in 1968 and Michael Wilson of Florida Cinema Corp. announced a brand new Jerry Lewis Twin in an outparcel strip adjoining the north-side of the mall. It would be next to the neighboring Winn-Dixie Grocery Store. Like other Jerry Lewis Twins, this one would seat 700 patrons, would be automated with one-button control, and would only feature family-friendly fare. The addition was announced in February of 1973.

Unfortunately, franchisees like Wilson would watch Lewis leave the project and the parent company, Network Cinema Corporation, declare bankruptcy and head toward dissolution with many pending lawsuits. But the Miracle City Twin got built. But by December 27, 1973’s grand opening, the Jerry Lewis signage and plaque were removed. The theatre launched with “American Graffiti” and “The Paper Chase” under the banner of the Miracle City Twin Cinemas.

The Miracle sported a “relaxing, intimate atmosphere” as opposed to “really small theater”. A downturn in the economy hurt NASA and traffic at the mall and its neighboring cinema hit the skids. In 1989, the cinema was taken on by Demarsh Cinemas of DeLand.

The Miracle City Twin Cinema lasted for the entirety of its 20-year leasing cycle closing on July 15, 1993 with “Menace II Society” and “Lost in Yonkers”. The Mall was in steep decline and would lose most of its businesses heading to greyfield status. The theatre stayed empty for the next 22 years while the Mall operated with just two businesses somehow lasting all the way to its merciful closure in 2013. Demolition in 2015 took the former cinema with it. The theater building had some of its original automation equipment in place at its demolition point.
