Primus Palast

Located in the district of Ehrenfeld in the west of the city. The Rheinland Lichtspiele was opened in 1919 and was operated by Corona Lichtspiele GmbH. In 1932 a sound system was added. In 1937 it was re-named Primus Palast. It was closed after 1941 due to war time conditions and it was badly damaged by Allied bombs in World War II.

It was rebuilt to the plans of architect Hans Stumpf and re-opened in 1952 with Victor Mature in “Samson and Delilah, directed by Cecil B. De Mille. It was operated by Georg Schwarze. In 1956 a CinemaScope screen and stereophonic sound was installed.

The Primus Palast was closed after 1963.
