Scala am Ring Filmtheater

Located in the city centre district of Neustadt-Nord. The Scala Cinerama theatre was opened on 9th September 1968 with Keir Dullea in “2001: A Space Odyssey” presented in single strip New Super Cinerama 70mm. The cinema was operated by the Hohenzollernrung Filmtheaterbetreib KG GmbH & Co of the Krueger Group. In 1991 it was taken over by Ufa Theater AG chain and it was re-named Scala am Ring The cinema was closed around 1999.

There were also two other Scala cinemas in Koln. The Scala Filmtheater located at Herzogstrasse 9 in the district of Altstadt-Nord Innenstadt and a Scala Lichtspiele Porz located in the district of Porz. (Both have their own pages on Cinema Treasures)
