The Alamo Theatre was Mineola’s only African-American movie house. The Alamo’s only documented continuous operation is from 1930 to 1932 but appears to have come back into existence likely struggling in the Depression era. At the end of the LeRoy Theatre’s existence, there were some limited African-American only screenings.
