  1. Lloyd Royal opened another area Royal Theatre. He had 17 other theatres in his circuit including Royal’s in Hattiesburg, Laurel, Waynesboro, and two in Meridien. This one was in downtown Winona and opened on November 16, 1945. Royal sold the Royal Theatre in 1947 to Edwin S. Corban. The Front Street Theatre in downtown Winona was destroyed by fire on October 14, 1948 and reopened at 122 Summit Street in an existing building.

In October of 1953, the Royal Theatre received a new widescreen projection system to accommodate CinemaScope presentations. The theatre made it for almost 15 years closing on March 8, 1960 with Gary Cooper in “The Wreck of Mary Deare”. It hosted a few live events to the end of the months. The Corban’s retrofitted for their Corban Furniture store.
