Empire Cinema

A conversion of the Albion Hall, the Empire Picture House was the second cinema to be opened in King’s Lynn by F.H. Cooper who had opened his Electric Theatre in September 1911. The Empire Cinema was opened on 28th April 1913 with “Plot and Counter Plot”. A 100-seat balcony had been added which increased the total seating capacity to 600.

The Empire Cinema was closed in September 1921 and it became a dance hall. Later becoming a public hall and then a Territorial Army Drill Hall. From the late-1950 until May 1968 it stood unused and was demolished.
