This was the second Merry Widow Theatre to operate on Chouteau Avenue. It opened around 1930, replacing the earlier 200-seat Merry Widow Theatre at 1451 Chouteau Avenue which had closed as a silent movie theatre (it has its own page on Cinema Treasures).
This Merry Widow Theatre opened with 385-seats and was closed when Komm Theatres opened their 920-seat New Merry Widow Theatre at 1539 Chouteau Avenue on March 21, 1942 (it has its own page on Cinema Treasures)
