The Rex Theatre opened in 1924 on Main Street. It was the first theater in the Bloomer Amusement Company (later known as BAC) chain wired for sound.
The Rex Theatre closed in 1953 and was demolished in 1982. A plaque in the lobby of the now-shuttered BAC Quad in Belleville commemorated the Rex Theatre.

400 seats in 1945. Address: 1415 West Main Street
Theatre located at 1317 W. Main. An empty lot occupies the site today.
Jalex….The address that I posted comes from a Film Daily Yearbook so it could be wrong. Where did you find the 1317 W. Main address?
From local newspapers, etc. I live in St. Louis, just a stone’s throw from Belleville (or vice versa).
