Theater am Rudolfplatz

Located in the city center district of Neustadt-Sud. The Theater am Rudolfplatz was opened on 6th July 1956 with 900-seats in orchestra & balcony levels. It was a first-run cinema and was operated by Dr. Adolf Schoofs, who also operated the Residenz Filmtheater close by. The cinema was designed by architects Theodor Kelter & Willy Heuser. The screen curtain was made of red velvet with silver effect decoration. The seats were by Loeffler which were red, yellow & grey. The size of the stage was 13.5x7 meters. The size of the Miracle Mirror CinemaScope screen was 11.5x4.7 meters. The B 8 B projectors were by Bauer and a 4-channel stereophonic sound system by Klangfilm was installed.

In 1983 the Ufa Theater chain Heinz Riech took over the operation. Around 1987 the cinema was tripled resulting in 3 auditoriums with 430, 300 & 45-seats. On 17th July 1995 the Theater am Rudolfplatz was closed. It was used as a TV studio and later a discotheque. The building was demolished in 2017.
