Atlantis Filmtheater

The Atlantis Filmtheater was opened on 28th December 1957. It was designed by architects Robert Becker, Helmut Wike & Gert Vollert. The size of the CinemaScope screen was 12.5x5.2 meters. In 1959 it was taken over by the Ufa chain. and the cinema was re-named Ufa Atlantis Filmtheater. In 1960 a second screen was addedand named Ufa Atelier.. In 1961 both screens were operated by Filmtheaterbetriebe Heukeshoven & Co KG. Later the cinema was closed and was converted into a discotheque. In 1982 it became a bar.
