Located near Guangxi Bei Lu. The Strand Theatre was built in 1930 as a single screen cinema. It was designed by architect Charles Henry Gonda, who also designed Shanghai cinema such as the Majestic, Lyceum, Roxy, Ritz, Royal, Capitol Victoria & the Uptown Theatres. In 1933 a sound system was installed.
It was later re-named Xinguang Cinema. It screens local and foreign film productions and also presents live theatre. It was re-modelled in 1992.
The price of a ticket is around 35 to 50 RMB
