Located in the village of Greenside, to the west of Gateshead, Tyne & Wear. It was designed by Newcastle upon Tyne based architect A.J. Lamb. The Ritz Cinema was opened on 20th November 1939. It had a plain façade which was outlined in red & green neon. Seating was on a stadium plan, which had a raised stepped section at the rear, rather than a conventional overhanging balcony. There were 257 seats in the stalls and 96 in the stepped section at the rear. On 10th December 1942 the cinema burnt down.

It was rebuilt in 1943 and finally closed on 17th January 1960. It was converted into a bingo club which closed around 1968. The vacant building deteriorated and was demolished by October 1979.
