The Community Theatre was opened by June 1936. It was listed as (Closed) in the 1941 & 1943 editions of Film Daily Yearbooks. By 1950 it had reopened as the Monroe Theatre. It was still open in 1957.

The “Theater Changes” report in Film Daily of June 18, 1936, listed the Community Theatre at Monroe City as a new house.
