Located in Newmilns, to the east of Kilmarnock, Ayrshire. The Rex Cinema was opened in 1939. It was equipped with a British Thomson-Houston(BTH) sound system. In the mid-1950’s in was equipped with CinemaScope and the proscenium was 41ft wide. The Rex Cinema was still open in 1969, but soon closed and became a bingo club. It has since been demolished and housing has been built on the site.
