The Empress Theatre was opened by 1926. It was listed in the 1931 edition of Film Daily Yearbook as a silent movie theatre. It had gone from listings in 1932 & 1933. In the Film Daily Yearbook’s for 1934 & 1935 it was listed as as (Closed). It had reopened by 1936 and was still open in 1937, but had closed by 1938.
