The Lyric Theatre was opened on July 6, 1931 with Winnie Lightner in “The Life of the Party” a Warner Bros. film, with a Fox Movietone Newsreel, a Ripley’s Believe It Or Not and a Mickey Mouse cartoon (accompanied while Walt Disney continued his operations at Columbia Pictures at the time). The manager of the Lyric Theatre was R.A. Tyson.

Some equipment installations were used as follows: an Arctic Nu-Air Cooling system, upholstered seats, a Ortho-Khrome screen, and a Western Electric sound system.

The Lyric Theatre was apparently short-lived. It was listed as (Closed) in the 1936 edition of Film Daily Yearbook. It reopened only to be closed finally in May 1940.
