AMC Springfield 11 with IMAX

Opened November 22, 1991 by Dickinson Theatres seating 2,200 in its eight screens. Goodrich took over operation of the theatre in 1996. The box office was located in the outer lobby with two ticket windows. Once in the theatre lobby it is shaped in a V, with the concession stand in the middle. A hallway goes down each side of the of the V to the auditoriums. All the auditoriums are decorated in a bright red with plush red velver seats. Dolby stereo in each auditorium. It was taken back by Dickinson Theatres on August 16, 2008.

In 2010 it was taken over by Showplex Cinemas, and in 2011 they enlarged to 11 screens and a total capacity of 2,400 seats. It was taken over by Starplex Cinemas in 2014. Taken over by AMC December 16, 2015.

Read today that they intend to build the IMAX and two additional audtoriums by next summer. Assume the IMAX will be a digital setup.

Construction is currently underway. The theatre will officially be renamed the Springfield 11 on November 18th. Happy Feet Two is the premiere IMAX engagement with Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol (in a one week exclusive) and The Adventures of Tintin planned as future engagements.

I really wish that the old photos, before the remodel, were still on here. This is a great theater.
