Crystal Theatre

This early theater appears on the 1908 Sanborn, located in the northern storefront of the E.A. Bloxham Block, a two-story brick structure constructed sometime after 1903.

This was likely a rudimentary facility to take advantage of the movie craze. Once better-appointed structures appeared, its days were numbered. The 1914 map shows a pool and lunch room located here, and the building renamed to the Wm. Yanchitis Block.

The building has suffered some rather clumsy postwar remodels, and the theater space is today a chiropractor’s office.
