Victoria Hall

Located in Glossop, Derbyshire. The Victoria Hall was upstairs on the first floor of a building constructed in 1887 and opened on 20th December 1888. It was designed by architect Frederick Bennett Smith of architectural firm Darbyshire & Smith. As well as the Victoria hall, which was used for social events, dances & lectures, there was a public library on the ground floor and office space. It had a capacity for 1,000-persons, but the seating capacity is unknown.

In the 1914 edition of Kinematograph Yearbook the Victoria Hall is listed as a full time cinema. Today the Victoria Hall serves as a community hall and the library was still open until the early-2020’s .
