Knight's Opera House

This theatre appears on the 1922 Sanborn, in a hall that had been constructed in 1911 by Hoyt Knight.

The hall was a decent size structure for such a small town. It was constructed of concrete block patterned to look like stone. The front entry was one story, but on the south side the building was two stories. There was a side entrance to the lower level, which originally held a marble works. This space later became town offices.

As completed, the building included a stage and scenery. Entry was through two large doors. The theatre likely remained in operation through at least 1941, as a Farm Security Administration photo of storefronts on the town square shows a poster listing attractions for an unnamed theatre. The hall was also used for functions like graduations and Grange meetings.

The building can be seen on the very blurry 2009 street-view. It held town offices until condemned by the state fire marshal due to structural issues with the roof trusses. In 2011 it was sold to an out of state developer, and by 2013 nothing remained.
