Sunnyside Theatre

This theatre was opened by Mrs. R.L. Pannel sometime between 1909 and 1914 to serve the African-American community. It was located in a very simple wooden building that was built sometime before 1894 as a church.

Shown on maps as a dance hall, this also presented vaudeville, and may have shown movies to those not welcome in the downtown cinemas. More information on this would be very helpful.

While the business was still shown on maps through 1921, this whole corner was demolished around 1940 for a large factory or warehouse which faces US 11 Business.
