Located in Garstang, 10 miles north of Preston, Lancashire. The Institute was operated as a cinema by 1927 and operated by the Garstang Cinema Co. It played two shows weekly on a Thursday & Saturday. By 1929 it had been renamed Cinema Institute and was operated by Victor Besso of the Cinema in Tedbergh, Yorkshire. It had an 18ft wide proscenium.

By 1933 it had been taken over by Westmorland Entertainments Ltd. and was renamed Cinema. It was equipped with a British Thomson-Houston(BTH) sound system. By 1944 it was independently operated by Henry Jacobs. By 1953 it was operating as the Institute Cinema and was operated by the Garstang Institute Committee. Films were being screened Monday-Saturday. Still open in 1958, it had closed by 1963.
