Originally Bowburn Working Mens Club which closed in 1912. It was soon reopened as the Crowtrees Working Mens Club located at the top of Durham Road West, Bowburn, County Durham. An upstairs recreation room was converted into a cinma, which opened in 1914. It was operated by William Wilfred Turnbull. The Olympia Cinema was closed on 16th July 1923 following a fire.

Repairs were carried out and the cinema reopened in 1924 and it closed in 1929. The village was without a cinema until Crown Cinema opened in 1940 (it has its own page on Cinema Treasures). The building has since been demolished an by 2023 the Sir Taj Restaurant occupies a building on the site.
