The Royal Drive-In opened its gates in 1949 as Winchester’s first out of two drive-in theatres. It was operated by E.E. Ours.

During its later years, the Royal Drive-In sat under the ramps of Interstate 81’s Exit #313 and #313A ramps after the highway was constructed in 1964.

The Royal Drive-In closed its gates for the final time in the mid-1970’s and was demolished later on.

Correction: The Royal Drive-In managed to continue into the rest of the mid-1970s, but was closed before the late-1970s.
