In Sibiu, in the Transylvanian region of Romania, Cinema Corso opened on 25th December 1936. With 1,000 seats, it was the largest cinema in the city and hosted many film premieres and other prestigious events.
In 1951, presumably when it was nationalised, it was renamed Cinema Pacea (“Peace”). It was particularly successful with American Westerns, French comedies and Indian dramas.
Cinema Pacea closed in 2005, and the building was demolished in 2008.
