Princess Theatre

The Princess Theatre appears on the 1910 Sanborn, in the northern storefront of an old two-story brick commercial building, which likely dated to before 1885. The 1906 map shows a grocery here.

Despite being a conversion of an old retail space, which would have been small and narrow, the Princess Theatre remained in operation on the 1918 map, and indeed the building has been extended to the rear and a stage added. It was closed by 1920, when 211-215 were incorporated into a Kresge store.

Later remodelings have made locating the site a bit confusing, but it appears that this is part of a spa using the 211 address. If any of the old structure remains, it’s likely only the rear wall.
