Opera House

This theater was a wooden building constructed sometime before 1896. The front was two stories high, and the auditorium was lower. By 1901, it had been extended to the rear all the way to the alley, which can still be made out.

Sometime between 1908 and 1915, movies began to be shown. The 1915 map also has a curious (539) notation, which may have been the capacity. The theater remained in operation on the 1926 map, but had been demolished by 1939. This whole block is taken up by a grocery store and parking lot today.
