Theatre

This theatre appears on the 1916 Sanborn, in a simple stuccoed wooden building that was a remodel of an older commercial building from before 1893. This location appears to have been unlucky, since two of the four available maps show it as vacant, including the preceding map from 1909.

Given its location across the street from the park, this may very well have been the Park Theatre, or at least an early version. If this is the case, it was open into the 1950’s.

A 1981 NRHP listing for a large hotel that was at the east end of this block shows what may be a later version of this theatre in the background. At that point, it had a brick facade, and a peaked roof. By 1997, this entire block had been demolished, and the site is now some rather bland condos.
