Majestic Theatre

Located at the corner of Duckworth Street and Queens Road in downtown St. Johns. The 600-seat Majestic Theatre opened as a movie theatre on March 3, 1919 with Clara Kimball Young in “Trilby” and closed in as a silent movie theatre in 1931. It was still listed as (Closed) in the 1933 edition of Film Daily Yearbook but had dropped out of listing from subsequent editions. It became a lighting showroom, then a business which sold washers & dryers. This was followed by use as a furniture showroom and followed by series of bars. It suffered damage by a fire in 2017.

It stood empty and unused until 2023 when renovations were carried out and it reopened as a 350-seat concert hall and live performance venue on September 22, 2023.
