Hippodrome Theatre

The theatre was built at the turn of the century in Gloversville. J.Meyer Schine bough it from Harry King in 1916 and refurbished it. It was the first theatre he bought. His brother, Louis, joined him in the business after WW I. At one time the Schine brothers owned 150 theatres in five states.

A Wurlitzer organ was installed in 1925. John Eberson remodeled this theatre for the Schine brothers in the 1920’s. The Hippodrome was closed and razed in 1961.
