Royal

Located in Saint-Etienne to the south west of Lyon. The 1,275-seat single screen Royal was opened in 1913. In 1963 its’s seating capacity was reduced to 1,006-seats. In the 1950’s it was the first cinema in town to be equipped with CinemaScope. In 1983 it was split into 7-screen with the largest screen having 500-seats and the smallest screen having 60-seats.

The Royal was closed in January 2015 when the nearby 10-screen Camion Rouge Cinema opened. The Royal Cinema was demolished in 2016 to make way for a 28-apartments building.
