Located in Saint-Etienne, to the southwest of Lyon. The L'Astree was opened on 5th May 1950. It was designed by architect M.M. Henri & local Saint-Etienne based architect Yves Gouyon. Designed in a Streamline Modern style, the auditorium had 450-seats in the orchestra and 250-seats in the balcony. It was independently operated.

By 2010 the former cinema was in use as a La Halle! clothing store. By 2017 it had become a Monoprix clothing store.
